Email to NBC for TribTron – take 2 June 6, 2009

Dear Sirs,

I hope this email finds you well; preferably on your Blackberry, enjoying your weekend with family, on the golf course, or whatever gets your ticker pumping. I am writing you this Saturday to appeal to the sports fan in you, to allow the Pittsburgh Penguins to broadcast games 6 & 7 on our beloved TribTron. As you can imagine having your team make it all the way to the finals; whether it is the Stanley Cup, Super Bowl, World Series, or NBA Championship, is among the most inspiring moments in a sports fans life. I have had the privilege of witnessing the Steelers win the Super Bowl in the last several years; albeit from the comfort of my home, and have dreamt of experiencing my Penguins achieve the same glory. As I do not have tickets for either of the final two games I think the best place to watch the final two games will be amongst thousands of fellow sports fan outside the home of our Pittsburgh Penguins. Thus far I have had the privilege of watching a few games on the TribTron and it has truly been a spiritual experience.

I understand there may have been some confusion with the NHL in the first three series, and as a matter of policy they would not allow the broadcast. I can assure you, I have been to multiple Versus Broadcasts on the TribTron, as have thousands of others.

Also, as I understand it, NBC has had their highest ratings ever for NHL broadcasts; and Pittsburgh is a 48 share. If it will help I will do my best to ensure EVERY person that attends the game on the TribTron leaves their TV on NBC for the Penguins game so there will be no negative impact to your ratings.

In closing please remember the Penguins raise money for Mario Lemieux charities, all noble causes by requesting donations from Pens fans. Although I do not have exact numbers I know that Penguins fans have been very generous in the past and will continue to do so. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if tens of thousands of dollars are donated to these charities because you’ve allowed the screen to be raised?
